Recognizing Guan Qingyang's bracelet from Lan Yu's deathbed, Shen Muling and Guan Xingkai forge bleeding words on Liang Man's scriptures, making her believe Lan Yu’s ghost is hunting her. The family calls an exorcism ritual to settle the unrest. During the ritual, darkness and high winds envelop the courtyard, and a terrified Liang Man sees Lan Yu's "ghost" in a mirror. Guan Xingkai declares he will only marry Shen Muling. Later, Shen Muling is kidnapped by Guan Qingyang’s remnants. Her uncle reveals a dark truth: Lan Yu was actually poisoned to death by Guan Xingkai’s own father using a confidant named Kang Shao. Stunned, Shen Muling flees and finds Liang Man murdered. Xu Yanshu appears, threatening to expose these dark family secrets unless she leaves Guan Xingkai and joins his household. Trapped, she coldly tells Guan Xingkai she wants nothing more to do with him.

The theater premieres a new play that directly exposes a prominent local man's betrayal, leading to a public confrontation where the villain is disgraced. The grateful family elders grant Guan Xingkai full authority over the new commercial association. When the elders inquire about their wedding, a conflicted Shen Muling suddenly announces to the press that she has no feelings for Guan Xingkai and loves Xu Yanshu, running into the Commander's arms and leaving Guan Xingkai heartbroken.

Xu Yanshu brings Shen Muling to his estate. There, she corners Kang Shao, who confesses that Guan Xingkai's father indeed murdered Lan Yu to protect his family legacy. Meanwhile, Guan Xingkai learns that Liang Man died of an opium overdose. He confronts Shen Muling at the estate, but she fiercely claims she never loved him. Later, news arrives that Guan Qingyang has committed suicide in prison. Xu Qingqing accepts an aphrodisiac from Kang Shao to use against Shen Muling.

During a grand welcome banquet, Xu Yanshu introduces Shen Muling as his partner. Guan Xingkai crashes the party, creating immediate tension. Xu Qingqing pretends to seek peace and offers a drugged toast to Shen Muling. Overcome by the drug, a dizzy Shen Muling is sent to her room, but Guan Xingkai intervenes and takes her into his car.
