Vaal Inter Football Club is a non-profit initiative created for the youth in the Vaal to keep them off the streets and falling into things like drug and alcohol abuse. They have several soccer divisions from under 11 to under 17 for boys. The club was founded by coach Jeremiah “Naizer” Dladla and he collaborated with 29-year-old coach Boitumelo “Stuks” Marakalala to train and mentor the boys. The soccer club also works with local government and other initiatives for health talks, mental health education and counselling.
In 1974, former South African Minister of Bantu Administration and Development MC Botha, decreed that the use of Afrikaans be made a medium of instruction in Black schools. The youth of 1976 did not take this lying down. An estimated 20,000 learners took it upon themselves to fight for what they believed was right. (Accompanied by footage from archives) Stories Untold team took a trip across Johannesburg, searching for high schools in townships to check the progress the youth of 1976 had achieved. We went to Tembisa Commerce and Entrepreneurship School of Specialisation, previously known as Tembisa High School; Katlehong Engineering School of Specialisation, previously known as Katlehong Technical High School; and Vine Christian School, a private school in Krugersdorp. We conversed with some of their staff members.

Lele Abrahms, Mmgauta Molefe and Dan Habedi are a few veterans who feel let down by the current democracy.
